UTEP Softball Drops Series Finale at NM State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – UTEP softball fell in the series finale at NM State, 8-0, Sunday afternoon at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Miners move to 11-27 overall and 3-15 in Conference USA play, while the Aggies improve to 21-20 (11-7 CUSA).

NM State struck early with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Aggies extended their advantage in the third inning, beginning with a solo home run followed by a two-RBI double to left center, pushing the lead to 5-0. Later in the frame, an error allowed another run to cross, making it 6-0.

The Aggies added a run in the fourth on a fielder's choice before tacking on their final run in the fifth with an RBI single to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory.

UTEP was limited offensively, recording just two hits on the afternoon. Kenna Carranza went 1-for-1 with a walk, while Jayde Pagdilao added a pinch-hit single.

Ryann Presswood earned the start in the circle for the Miners and was charged with the loss, moving to 0-2 on the season.

On Deck
UTEP will hit the road for a three-game Conference USA series at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., scheduled for April 17-19.
